Prevent and treat muscle soreness!
Any kind of a rigorous workout can leave us feeling that good hurt which always reminds me of my hard work and effort. I actually love being sore! Haha! If you have trained with me before, you know to expect some post-workout muscle tenderness. Between Mission Possible™ (Tuesday through Sunday) and my Spin class at Sports Club LA (on Fridays) there are plenty of opportunities to feel the burn of lactic acid. Some natural remedies that you may want to try are herbal supplements like ginger, turmeric, holy basil, green tea and rosemary to support a healthy inflammation response, both preventatively and for relief. These are also great for bruises and swelling. If the herbal stuff doesn't do the trick, try Capsaicin cream (from cayenne pepper) to help soothe aches and pains. Some other homeopathic remedies you can look into are: Arnica montana, Magnesium phosphorous, Hypercium perf, Ruta grav, Ledum pal, and Rhus tox. Always consider the more natural route instead of over-the-counter stuff. Did you know that I don't own any pain relievers? I don't have a medicine cabinet, I have an herbal and vitamin "warehouse" in my own kitchen! |

You're absolutely right, the natural route is the best option. I've been fortunate so far to never have relied on any over- the- counter or other prescription medications for a chronic condition. I recently read that 51% of all Americans now take some form of prescription medication. This is the first time in the history of this country that the majority now take these drugs. So many diseases and conditions can be prevented the natural way through a sound diet and exercise. It's sad that so many people just try to take the easy way out by popping a pill while neglecting their diet and body. |
